Some icons do not mean immediate engine damage, but they should change how the machine is operated. A regeneration symbol on a diesel engine indicates that the emissions system needs a regeneration cycle or related attention. The required procedure varies by model. Parking a machine in a dusty, enclosed, or combustible area during a hot regeneration is poor practice, even if production is behind schedule.
A fuel-water separator symbol means water has collected in the fuel system. Drain it using the machine's procedure, then investigate the source. Condensation, poor storage, or contaminated delivery fuel can all contribute. Continued operation with water in the high-pressure fuel system can turn a simple drain job into injector or pump work.
Battery or charging symbols indicate that the alternator may not be maintaining system voltage. The machine may run for a while on stored battery power, which makes this warning easy to underestimate. A voltage check at the batteries and alternator can separate a belt problem from a charging-circuit fault. Do not assume a new battery fixes a warning that returns after startup.
The parking-brake, brake-pressure, and transmission-temperature indicators deserve special care on wheel loaders and articulated trucks. A brake warning is not merely an inconvenience on a haul road. Use the fault code with the symbol
